Drunk Scorpion

Step outside and search the skies for any sign
Beads of sweat soak through my shirt and roll down my spine
The fading sun burns through my eyes and through my mind
Staring out across this wasted land to see what I can find
Looking for a way
So that I can say
Just remember me.
The moonlight shines above, an accusing eye
I feel the heat of a million tears I know I’ll never cry
The wind is howling at my back, screaming out your name
And still I walk this world alone where death is just a game
Where is yesterday
So that I can say
Please remember me
Where is yesterday
So that I can say
Please remember me

The Navigator
04:07
|
|||
It’s almost time, and the sun is sinking low
The destination is in my blood and I’m telling you we’ve got to go.
Going out of my mind but I’m taking it slow
And I need you by my side, so we’re heading on down the road.
Sit tight, I’m gonna drive by the fading light
My mind is shifting into overdrive and you know I see better at night
I hear a sound like a dog that’s about to bite
And even though you fear that the end is near, everything is gonna be alright.
We’ve got to fly… my navigator and I… to the end of the world.
We’ve got to fly… my navigator and I… to the end of the line.
I can see strange shapes in the darkened skies
Bodies floating in a sea of darkness in the space behind my eyes
Now the road is an endless wave of flies
As the corpse of the moon appears and it slowly starts to rise.
In the end there is nothing left to drive (to drive).
On the back of a beast of fear he’s the only one left alive
With my navigator sitting here by my side
(My) skin is crawling from the inside out and I know he wants to ride
We’ve got to fly… my navigator and I… to the end of the world.
We’ve got to fly… my navigator and I… to the end of the line.
Limbs crashing on the shores below while the clouds begin to fall
Dust choking as the winds arise and the demons start to climb the wall
What you want and what you need … well, there’s nothing you can buy
Pandemonium strikes the land and you know we’ve got to fly.
We’ve got to fly… my navigator and I… to the end of the world.
We’ve got to fly… my navigator and I… to the end of the line.
We’ve got to fly… my navigator and I… to the end of the world.

Where The Widow Raves
04:29
|
|||
In a place where the days slip past
like the desert sands through your hands
In a land where the nights are lost
Like a wandering soul as black as coal
Come inside there’s a place for you in here, my friend
Have a drink, stay a while and forget that this is the end
In a world where the sky is gray
Like the bones of the dead, or cold, cold lead
By the side of a winding road
Past the silent graves, where the widow raves
Come inside there’s a place for you in here, my friend
Have a drink, stay a while and forget that this is the end
You can see shadows all around
Like the ghosts of friends the devil sends
Through the haze of the smoky room
A form stood there, but you don’t care.
Turn the lights down low, don’t you know, there is no place to run?
But you smile and you laugh for a while ‘cause at least you had fun.

Rocket Whip
03:33
|

Down the midway you can hear
Above the noise of the crowd
It’s the sound of naked fear
Now it’s getting loud
Turn the corner there it stands
A nightmare made of steel
Victims locked in its rusty hands
Now it’s getting real
Your life flashes through your mind now
Say Goodbye to all that you hold dear
Failing gears are starting to grind now
Abandon all hope you who enter here!
Like the victims from a murder room
Who lived to tell the tale
Facing down their certain doom
Emerging shaken and pale
Now the doors open wide for you
Just climb inside and pray
Nothing more that you can do
But hope to see a new day
Your life flashes through your mind now
Say Goodbye to all that you hold dear
Failing gears are starting to grind now
Abandon all hope you who enter here!
Your life flashes through your mind now
Say Goodbye to all that you hold dear
Failing gears are starting to grind now
Abandon all hope you who enter here!

I’ve been running for so long
Every moment is so wrong
Now the hour is long gone
No escape from this old song
Into the night
Into the day
Looking for something to find
You’ve been sleeping for so long
Every dream has been so wrong
The Devil’s hour is long gone
All that’s left is this old song
Into the night
Into the day
Looking for something to find

Born To Swing
03:35
|
|||
I never meant to hurt them, that’s the way it goes
Now all that’s left if just some hair and several toes
I knew that dynamite was going to be a blast
Now all I do is just reflect upon my past
I was born on the thirteenth of July
My mama looked at me and she began to cry
The devil heard her and his hosts began to sing
My daddy shook his head and said
“That boy was born… to swing”
I never saw her I was just minding my own
I will admit I never really liked her tone
I swear I don’t know why her body’s ’neath my bed
Now all I do is wonder how she turned up dead
I was born on the thirteenth of July
My mama looked at me and she began to cry
The devil heard her and his hosts began to sing
My daddy shook his head and said
“That boy was born… to swing”
And now the gallows are my one and only friend
We’re going to be together till the very end
Soon I’ll be dancing with the air beneath my feet
My heart will set the tempo till the final beat
I was born on the thirteenth of July
My mama looked at me and she began to cry
The devil heard her and his hosts began to sing
My daddy looked and said “That boy was born to swing!”

When today is lost
And tomorrow’s gone
When the light is low
In the fading dawn
Reverb drifts away
And the echoes go
The vibrato wave
Begins to slow
Amplifier hum
Creeping up the walls
As the darkness comes
And the silence falls

Away
03:34
|
|||
She comes to me like my dearest friend
Reading over my shoulder she waits ‘till I’m wandering again
Even though I tell her “No, not today.”
She listens for an hour or two but comes back again anyway
And then I hear her calling. “I want you… I need you.”
Sometimes I hear her call again. But I don’t want to go
Like the howling wind, like the pouring rain
So dark and cold and sweet I wonder how can I remain
In the fading light, like a dying flame
I walk into the night alone until the shadows look the same
And still I hear her calling. “I want you… I need you.”
But when I hear her call again. I feel I ought to go
In the dead of night, in the light of day
A demon crawling on the floor telling me I ought to pray
When the rains have gone and the sky is gray…
The dream that was the world is gone and I know she’s here to stay
And so the stars are falling… and I want you, I need you
And then I hear her call again. I know I’ve got to go away

Erie Lackawanna Line
03:48
|
|||
Hanging round for another day
Then it’s time to fly
Every moment’s a price I pay
And I don’t know why
Looking ‘round for another way
There’s no time to cry
Nothing more that I can say
But I have to try
Come on, let’s ride
Say your goodbyes
We’re leaving town on the Erie
Lackawanna Line
Come on, let’s ride
Say your goodbyes
We’re leaving town on the Erie
Lackawanna Line
Been gone for a week or more
Everything is wrong
Feeling rotten to the core
Has it been so long
Got to be another way
I’m not gonna lie
I’m not the type to pray
Looking to the sky
Come on, let’s ride
You know I’ve tried
Heading back to town on the Erie
Lackawanna Line
Come on, let’s ride
God knows I’ve tried
Heading back to town on the Erie
Lackawanna Line

Late Night Fatality
05:06
|
|||
The sign says the next sign is 30 miles away
I must be getting gone or I’m gonna have to pay
The night is chasing me and there’s no place to hide
That demon’s hangin’ on my back everywhere I ride
Just a desert cave
Just a shallow grave
Just a cloud of flies
Just a pair of eyes
There’s an angel’s face
In that haunted place
I cannot stay
I’ve got to get away
The voices in my head say I ought to pray
The one that’s on my lips says “No, not today”
If time runs out for me, well at least I tried
My life’s on the razors edge since the day she died
Just a desert cave
Just a shallow grave
Just a cloud of flies
Just a pair of eyes
There’s an angel’s face
In that haunted place
How can it be
She’s calling me
She whispers in my ear that I’ve got to stay
The branches of the trees they begin to sway
She tells me to return and now I’ve got to go
When will this nightmare end, well, I’ll never know
Just a desert cave
Just a shallow grave
Just a cloud of flies
Just a pair of eyes
There’s an angel’s face
In that haunted place
Lay beside my love
Hidden from above

The Gunsmoke Sinners New Jersey
The origins of The Gunsmoke Sinners are the subject of hushed debates over bonfires in the back woods of New Jersey's vast
Pinelands. Some say they appeared one night on the winds of an unseasonably violent nor'easter, while others claim they emerged from the bogs to the tune of the thirteen witching-hour chimes.
Only three souls know the truth and they've made a pact to take it to their graves.
